A Tiffany lamp is a real piece of art and always has been from when they were first designed at the end of the nineteenth century - the first Tiffany lamp dates back to around 1895.
However, don't expect it to have all the qualities of a real antique lamp but then it doesn't boast to have them either. It's just a fancy handcrafted lamp in a reasonable price. This glass table lamp can hold two bulbs at a time and they can be lit together as well as one at a time, which is good in you want to save energy or need less light at times. Overall, it's a nice lamp at a fair price.
Louis Comfort Tiffany worked in New York, designing stained glass for an interior design firm. The leftover pieces of glass at the end of each work day inspired him to start designed lampshades from them. He did continue doing the design work for the firm for a while, but soon he began exclusively designing and creating his signature lamps. A few artists and craftspeople worked with him to create the lamps, which were art but that he intended to be used in people's homes and used, rather than simply admired.
